Cortisol, the “stress hormone,” is a vital component of our body’s reaction to stress. Chronic stress has been related to elevated cortisol levels, which have been associated with weight gain and problems reducing weight. Increased hunger, especially for high-calorie foods, and a propensity to store fat in the abdomen might result from this imbalance. Cortisol can also interfere with insulin sensitivity and metabolism, making it harder to lose extra weight.
