What is a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)?
The definition of a highly sensitive person is someone who experiences acute physical, mental or emotional responses to stimuli. This can include external stimuli like your surroundings and the people you’re with, or internal stimuli like your thoughts, emotions and things you come to realize. Highly sensitive persons feel things far stronger than others do. Often its noticed and remarked on both others like “you noticed that” or “that bothers you” or “you’re too sensitive!”
Approximately 15-20 percent of the worldwide population is highly sensitive. It is a real, research-based characteristic. Psychology defines anyone having a very high degree of Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS) which is a personality trait is considered highly sensitive. A person with high SPS has differences at the neural level.
HSP Advantages and Disadvantages
Highly Sensitive People tend to be creative, intuitive and highly aware of the needs of others. They thrive in careers as counselors, therapists, artists, musicians and writers. They can also be overwhelmed, exhausted and burned out by ‘absorbing’ or sensing all of the emotional cues of people around them. Loud, crowded or busy spaces can overwhelm Highly Sensitive People.
Because of their need to decompress, Highly Sensitive Persons can need to spend time alone and can be confused with introverts. How the body processes how society treats Highly Sensitive Persons can be a cause for trauma on top of the high sensitivity they already feel from other stimuli.
Hypnosis for Highly Sensitive Persons Uses the Powerful Subconscious Mind for Change
Hypnosis for Highly Sensitive Persons helps you reframe and re-work the ways you think and feel about all of the sensory input you’re receiving. The process also helps you work through your feelings and learn to manage them in a way that is healthy and manageable for you.
The tools for this reside in the subconscious mind which is an area that only hypnosis can access. The subconscious affects the way you automatically think, act, react and feel. The methods used by the hypnosis process give your subconscious an exit path for what no longer serves you, and most importantly: replaces it with what does serve you. The hypnosis replacement method gives the automated nature of your mind a new path to follow, making change easier than before.
Hypnosis is proven more effective than traditional counseling
In a study in American Health Magazine, hypnosis and hypnotherapy have a 93% success rate compared with lower results from other methods of therapy which require far more sessions. Click here to learn more about hypnosis and its high success rate.
