Passive Resistance Definition

passive resistance issues holding you back from feeling well and succeeding

Passive resistance issues can be improved using the power of hypnosis. Meridian Peak Hypnosis helps clients worldwide both in-office and via Internet hypnosis sessions. Schedule your appointment using our online scheduler anytime, 24/7.

Passive resistance is a coping strategy, action or ‘non-action’ taken by people who are dealing with tough situations or feeling trapped mentally. It involves a non-confrontational strategy, in which the person may withdraw, refrain from acting, or merely tolerate their circumstance without actively seeking/creating change.

Passive resistance can take many forms:

Avoidance: Doing everything else except change and improvement. Many times escaping into electronic devices, bad habits, going out, eating excessively, sleeping too much or engaging in activities that help their mind avoid what needs to be done.
• Social withdrawal: People who engage in passive resistance may cut themselves off from friends, family, and other sources of support, withdrawing from social engagements.
• Inaction: People may passively put up with their issues rather than taking initiative to resolve them. They might avoid practicing self-care, putting their physical and emotional health at risk.
• Non-compliance: Some people might not follow the recommendations or treatment programs given to them by mental health professionals. They could refuse to take prescribed medications, miss therapy appointments or refuse to adopt recommended lifestyle modifications. A lot of excuses and fighting often accompany non-compliance.

Internal Barriers Accelerating Passive Resistance

Internal barriers like anxiety, depression, fear, guilt, or ignorance of the resources available can all have an impact on passive resistance and can be a ‘gas peddle’ of the symptoms. This response may also be influenced by outside factors including stigma, a lack of access to help and/or constant feelings of failure.

Although passive resistance may be a person’s method of coping, it is crucial to remember that it is not necessarily a successful or beneficial strategy for dealing with issues. Individuals who engage in passive resistance are many times not aware of the possible harm to their well-being which causes them not to seek assistance.

How Traditional Therapies Fail to Help You Improve

Traditional therapies have a low success rate even reaching, much less being able to create change. Even if a talk therapist reaches the subconscious mind, they typically spend too much time examining what is wrong and why it bothers you. Traditional counseling has a method that has an extremely low success rate.

Medication covers up the top level symptoms such as anxiety or depression, but does not address the root cause which resides in the subconscious mind. This is why many stay on medication indefinitely as the underlying issue is not addressed by the meds and counseling typically fails when used in conjunction.

Hypnosis Can Help Reduce and Eliminate Passive Resistance Tendencies Without Medication

Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind which generates and regulates automated behaviors, actions and reactions. This is the part of your mind that both ‘feels’ and does things on ‘autopilot.’ Hypnosis achieves ‘home run’ access to the subconscious mind where the real issue resides. During hypnosis, our practitioners give a ‘way out’ for what does not serve you and most importantly: replaces it with a new set of emotions, actions and reactions that do serve. Hypnosis is a replacement method.

Hypnosis makes feeling better and creating different outcomes easier than you ever imagined.
