What is Perfectionism?
Perfectionism is where we strive for flawlessness and high standards in all we do. This drive for perfection can have both positive and harmful consequences.
Setting exceedingly high standards for yourself and others, paying extra attention to details, and experiencing annoyance when things do not reach those high expectations are all characteristics of perfectionism. Perfectionists frequently avoid making mistakes and seek ongoing praise for their accomplishments. They may devote an excessive amount of time to projects in order to achieve an unrealistic level of perfection.
Perfectionism Can Be Harmful
Perfectionism, on the other hand, can be harmful. Because of the ongoing pressure to meet unattainable standards, it can cause significant levels of stress, anxiety, and burnout. Perfectionists may reject new challenges out of fear of failure, limiting personal growth and development. Relationships might suffer as well, because the quest of perfection leaves little room for flexibility and understanding.
Pursuing excellence is admirable, perfectionism should be approached with prudence. It’s critical to acknowledge that perfection is unattainable, and that striving for it might harm one’s mental health, personal progress, and relationships. High standards combined with self-compassion and acceptance of flaws can lead to a healthier and more satisfying existence.
Hypnosis Helps Your Mind Re-Balance
The mind can create a habit of too much perfectionism. This can get to the point where it becomes unhealthy for yourself or others. Once the mind reaches this point, a reset is needed. And once it is engrained on the habit level of the mind, hypnosis is a tool to give a way out for the habit that is not working and most importantly: replace it with a new habit that serves you better.
Hypnosis works directly with the subconscious part of the mind where habits, automated actions, reactions and emotions reside. Meridian Peak Hypnosis practitioners bypass the conscious mind and work directly with the subconscious where we gain direct access both where the issue resides and where we can ‘plant’ new seeds to create new outcomes.
Hypnosis is a powerful tool to change the habit of perfectionism and re-balance the mind to a healthier way of thinking and responding.
