Do you frequently check to make sure you’ve locked the door or cleaned your hands several times a day? Maybe you’re always worrying about everything being organized and perfect. These could be symptoms of OCD, also known as obsessive-compulsive disorder.
OCD can make it hard to focus on work, schoolwork or enjoy free time. It can also lead to problems in relationships, as others may not understand why these behaviors are happening.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): Definition
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can affect people of all ages. People with these symptoms struggle to regulate unwelcome and recurrent thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
OCD Symptoms
• Obsessions – Unwanted worries, fears, or ideas that frequently cross a person’s mind are called obsessions. These ideas may disturb or distress you. Typical obsessions: aversion to contamination or germs, concerning one’s safety and harboring fears of being wounded, ideas about how imperfect or messy things are
• Compulsions – The activities or actions that OCD sufferers feel driven to perform as a result of their obsessions are known as compulsions. These measures are intended to lessen any stress or worry brought on by the obsessions. Typical compulsions include: Excessive handwashing or cleaning to avoid germs, repeatedly checking locks, switches, or appliances and counting or repeating phrases or words in their head
• Time Consuming – time can be greatly consumed by OCD symptoms. An OCD sufferer may devote hours to their obsessions and compulsions each day. This may obstruct routine tasks like going to school, succeeding at work, engaging in hobbies, and spending time with friends and family.
• Distress – OCD can cause sufferers a lot of distress. Even if they are aware that their actions and ideas don’t work or feel good, they feel powerless to change them causing anxiety and depression.
Hypnosis Can Help You Break Free of OCD Tendencies
Hypnosis works with the subconscious part of your mind which regulates automated behaviors, actions and reactions. This is the part of your mind that does and feels things on auto-pilot without even thinking logically first.
Hypnosis gives a ‘way out’ for habits, routines and emotions that do not serve you and most importantly: replaces them with a new automated program to follow that helps you. Hypnosis works directly with the part of your mind that has a ‘program’ that does not serve you.
The hypnosis process works directly with the source of the issue.
Hypnosis is proven more effective than other methods
In a study in American Health Magazine, hypnosis and hypnotherapy have a 93% success rate compared with lower results from other methods of therapy which require far more sessions. Click here to learn more about hypnosis and its high success rate.
